UMMAS Annual Leadership Training/Networking Event
Invited: all Board members, Youth Ed leaders & teachers, Social media teams,
Licensed Teachers, and Ministers & Spiritual Leaders (and spouses & partners) in the UMMAS sub-region! You are invited to attend the UMMAS Leadership Training & Networking, which will be an excellent opportunity for "in-filling", inspiration, ideas, and networking with other Board members and leaders in our sub-region. About the Leadership Training & Networking events: You can expect to learn about yourself, about your role in your church, and how other churches do things. You will meet ministers, licensed teachers, Board members, youth ed teachers, and leadership teams from many other churches. You will have an opportunity to interact and network with them.
Past keynote speakers have included: Bil & Cher Holton, Rev. Pat Bessey, Rev. Terrance Padgett, Bill Easum, Rev. Larry Wynn, Rev. Gary Simmons, Dr. Charles Arn, Barbara O'Hearne, Michael Wilkinson, Rev. Carole O'Connell, Rev. Rene Pare, and others. Please plan your travel time so that you can check in to your hotel and be on time for the meetings which begin on Friday at 7:00pm (with a Meet & Greet time at 6:30). We meet again on Saturday morning after breakfast, break for lunch at the host church, and meet in the afternoon until about 4pm. The host church & location may change, but is chosen from churches that are central to the UMMAS subregion. This event has been hosted at Charlotte NC, Atlanta GA, Asheville NC, Winston-Salem NC, and Raleigh NC. Financial matters: This valuable resource is provided at no charge to you and to your church by UMMAS (funded by your church's tithes, and by love offerings at Retreat). UMMAS pays for the guest speaker/workshop leader for the event and lunch for all participants on Saturday (catered & served at the host church). A Love Offering will be taken at the event. Frequently your home church will pay for your (shared) motel room (which may include a complimentary breakfast). Information about a local motel will be sent by the host church. Most participants pay for their own dinner on Friday. How to Attend:

Creating Conscious Congregations ~This interactive workshop focuses on identifying and providing effective solutions to difficulties that arise in congregations as we all expand our conscious awareness of the Divine. We will explore ideas of response-agility, methods to embrace and ride the waves of conflict in a manner that recognizes wholeness, and structures for embracing differences. Additionally, we will look at both interpersonal dynamics and policy that can impact the day-to-day workings of the church. Benefits: Shift from conflict to creative innovation - Reduce blaming - Explore tools that invite wholeness - Learn to respond from conscious choice.

Invite, Include, Empower
Presenters: Rev Francie Potter, CSE. LUT and Rev Warren Potter, M. Div.
Rev. Francie and Rev. Warren Potter are 2010 graduates of the Ministerial and Religious Studies program at Unity Institute, Unity Village, MO. With a combined service in ministry of over forty years, they have served in many aspects of leadership, and are currently serving at Unity East of Atlanta, in Conyers, GA. With a strong Unity background, the Potter’s believe in bringing forth inherent Truth and Principles in others by raising consciousness through the teachings that Unity espouses, knowing that when someone awakes to Truth their lives become enriched. Through great leadership skills, positive attitudes, and the ability to hold a vision and create goals the Potter’s know we can be all we are meant to be. Together, this dynamic duo balances each other in expertise, leadership, and ministry.
Invite, Include, Empower ~ This participatory workshop is a powerful way to invite, include and empower the people who volunteer and make up your church family, your organization, or your community outreach group. We cannot begin to ask people to volunteer or meet the needs of the church until we can define what we need. For the purposes of this weekend we will be defining ways to expand your volunteer base, organize your teams, and most importantly empower people to be a part of the whole. Are the same people doing the same duty every week? Is it difficult to expand your teams? When everyone can understand the importance of not only what they do, but how important it is to include others, your community will grow by empowering and expanding your volunteer base.
